About Buckman

Buckman Public House is a meeting place for our Portland community, offering a relaxed, fun and wholesome food and beverage experience.

The Buckman was formed by a small owner group of native Oregonians that have lived through and experienced the wonderful developments in our city of Portland. In a concerted effort to embrace the evolution of our city, but also honoring the vibrant and rich past of the metropolis and its communities, they jumped eagerly at the opportunity to build a communal hub in one of Portland’s most historic renovations, Washington High School.






Our kitchen is led by Executive Chef Jeff Emerson (Tucci, Cafe Castagna, Ava Gene’s, Alba Osteria) and Chef de Cuisine Ian Wilson (ex-Chef/Owner of Fenrir). Over the years these two have built a working relationship based on a shared passion for the integrity of delicious and nutritious food. Combining this with their shared attitude of adventurous, locally sourced and no-nonsense cooking, they have come together to create our kitchen that is the heart and soul of The Buckman.

Our bar program is led by bar manager Pete Maben (Vintage Cocktail Lounge, Raven and Rose) and development director Beau Raymond. Pete has spent the last decade working behind some of the best bars in Portland. Beau, a renounced Los Angeles recording engineer turned bar nerd, has returned to his home town in order to professionally pursue his passion of potation. Together they have created a fun and adventurous program providing a journey into the world of spirits.
